Linda T. Mullen, age 70, of West Palm Beach, FL passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Palm Beach. Linda was born January 29, 1943 in Union Township, NJ, daughter of the late Thorlew and Louise (Koehler) Thorstensen. She had a long and fulfilling career with the American Red Cross, serving in Emergency Services as a Case Worker. Many thousands of people in her area who were in some of their darkest, most desperate moments of their lives turned to her for comfort and aid. She never failed them and was always there with strong shoulders, calming demeanor and with an action plan. Through many fires, storms and other weather emergencies it was her at the center working with the individuals helping to rebuild their lives. The military clients and their families are particularly indebted to her. While soldiers and sailors were serving thousands of miles from home, defending our freedom, risking life and limb, she cared for their worried families at home. She was the beacon in a stormy sky for them and lessened tensions on our service men and women abroad. She was the definition of a selfless woman and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by a son, Stephen Mullen of West Palm Beach and a daughter, Melissa Mullen of West Palm Beach; grandson, Jordan Mullen of Port St Lucie; her beloved dog and cat, Rick and Roger. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 28, 7:00 p.m. at the Palm Beach National Chapel (10055 Heritage Farms Rd; Lake Worth, FL 33449). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, greater Palm Beach area chapter through volunteer work or donations (825 Fern St; West Palm Beach, FL 33401).
