Lois Ermalee Blanton-Otto passed away on November 24, 2023, surrounded by family. She was adopted and raised as Lois Kitts in West Virginia and Ohio, and later moved to Florida. She married her first husband, Bill Blanton, on December 16, 1950, with whom she had three children. On August 29, 1994, she married her second husband Charles "Charlie" Otto. Late in life, she was overjoyed to find out that she had eight brothers and sisters (including Doris, Betty, Patty, Bobby, Billy, Tommy and Joe), and got to know a few of them.
Lois was a dedicated mother, grandmother and pet owner, an avid gardener and someone who loved to take in strays. A failure at winning the Publishers Clearinghouse and at retirement, she worked for Paul Boucher in the tile business several times after she first "retired." She was famous for her shrimp and crabmeat dish, as well as her corn casserole around the holidays, loved scratch-off lotto tickets, and always had a smile and a positive word for anyone she met.
She is predeceased by her husbands, Charles Otto and Bill Blanton; her sister, Betty Thompson; her grandsons, Walter Eplin, Scott Eplin and Nicholas Eplin; and her many pets, including Mooch and Lucky. She is survived by her sons, Stephen Blanton and Wes Blanton; her daughter, Sue Eplin; her daughter in law and friend, Mary-Lou Blanton; her sisters, Doris Robinson and Patty Lucan; her grandchildren, Nicole Fingerhut, Clark Dean Eplin, Cassie Smith, Jacob Blanton and Jason Boggess; several great grandchildren, including Josslyn, Khristopher, Teagan, Aria, Brendon, Emory, Braelyn, Brynlee, Brooks and Brexton; and close friends, Paul, Linda and Pearl.
There will be a Celebration of Lois' Life at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023 at the Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home, 950 SE Monterey Road, Stuart, FL 34994.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice at 1201 Southeast Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997 or (772) 403-4500.
