Obituary

Louise Susan (Brodrero) Ludington, 93, of Stuart, Florida passed peacefully into the Gates of Heaven on Tuesday April 6, 2020 from Emerald Healthcare, Port Saint Lucie, Florida.

Louise was a St. Patrick's Day Baby born, 03/17/1927, in Wellsville, Utah to John and Kate (Larsen) Brodrero; the middle of eleven children. She attended Riverside Business College in Riverside, California. Shortly thereafter, she and a friend both obtained a position with the US State Department and were assigned to Rabat, Morocco in 1952. It was here where she met her future husband, Lyell who was stationed at the US Air Force Base in Morocco.  Married in 1953, Louise and Lyell spent most of their life together in Kalamazoo, Michigan. After vacationing in Florida for many years, they relocated to Stuart, Florida and became full-time residents over 25 years ago.

Prior to their move to Florida, Louise served as an administrative assistant for the Kalamazoo Public Schools; including the Kennedy Center and Kalamazoo Central High School. She also became a licensed realtor for a time with a Michigan real estate agency.  Never one to be idle, Louise became a floor consultant at Stein Mart department store from the time it opened in Stuart, FL until she "retired" in 2014. For several years after; many local residents would recognize her and say hello when they saw her out and about.

Louise had a deep love for her family and close friends.  She and Lyell enjoyed many years boating on Lake Michigan aboard their boat, the "Misty Blue". Friends and family remember many good times with them on "the levee" in Saugatuck, MI.  Louise loved travel, music & dancing and playing golf & bridge.  She loved to entertain and socialize with her family & friends.  Louise's strong will, literally, "kept her dancing" until shortly before her passing!

Survivors include her daughters, Lisa (Ludington) Locatis and her husband Terry Locatis of Ocean Breeze, Florida and Lana (Ludington) Murch and her husband Andy Murch of Fountain Hills, Arizona and Fennville, Michigan. As well as four grandchildren, Eric (Char) Murch, Nikki (Josh) Fonger, Kristen (Nate) Vande Guchte, Colin (Sara) Murch, and ten great-grandchildren.  Her sister, Marlene (Brodero) Coombs and brother Larry Brodero; both of Utah.   As well as many nephews, nieces and extended family.  Louise was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, Lyell Frank Ludington on February 23, 2015.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Michigan. Arrangements are under the direction of the Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home, Stuart. There is an online registry at: www.treasurecoastseawinds.com .  For those who wish; contributions may be made in memory of Louise Ludington to Council of Aging of Martin County; 900 SE Salerno Road, Stuart, FL 34997 or online at www.kanecenter.org/foundation/how-we-help.
