Mahadaye John, 77 of  Port  Saint  Lucie,  Florida,  passed  away suddenly on  Sunday,  November 25, 2018 at the Lawnwood Regional Medical  Center  in  Fort  Pierce,  Florida.

Mahadaye John, lovingly known as "Moms" was born September 18th, 1941, in San Fernando, Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies. She was the second oldest of eight children born to Sooganie Sookwah and Khaloo Latchman. From the age of thirteen, she was responsible for caring for her mother and her seven siblings. She travelled to Venezuela as a teenager in search of job opportunities to help with the care of her family and on her return to Trinidad and Tobago she met and soon married her husband Faizul John.

While living in Trinidad, Mynie (as she was lovingly known) and Faizul had five children; Jennifer, Kenrick, Gemma, Winston (Mose) and Kelvin. They later migrated to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, where they had 3 more children: Marlon (Pappy), Vishnu, and Andy (Bucks).

In the mid 1970's, Mahadaye moved to the United States of America and lived in a little apartment in Brooklyn with her 8 children. There she met Stafford Gurdon and they had a son together, her youngest child Stafford Jr (Joey). After some time, the family moved to their own home...the infamous 'flower house' at 243 Winthrop Street, Brooklyn.

Moms was able to retire after more than forty years in Brooklyn and she relocated to Florida. Here she continued her love of gardening. Her green thumb flourished even more in the beautiful Florida sunshine and even now you could find a range of flowers, plants, and fruit trees in her backyard. On Sunday, November 25, 2018, Mahadaye was sadly called home.

Along with her children, she leaves behind her two sons-in-law Dhandeo and Steve, four daughters-in-law: Jude, Christine, Sonya and Karmen. She is survived by grandchildren: Ryan, Ricky, Randy, Jenny, Travis, Sean, Amir, Jason, Robin, Kendell, Jeron, Krystall, Brandon, Ariel, Alexis, Sherina, Zamar, Zakhilyn, Rhadeka and Joshua, Jada, and four great grandchildren Jayden, Jason, Skylar and Arissa. All of whom knew their grandmother's/great grandmother's love, smile and beautiful, kind heart.

The matriarch of the John family has gone home to eternal rest. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew her. Her devotion, hard work, unconditional love and memories will live on with everyone who knew her. She was truly a blessing to everyone she encountered.A Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 1st from 12 noon until 1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Port Saint Lucie, 115 NE Solida Drive, Port Saint Lucie, where a Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her second visitation on Tuesday, December 4th, from 1- 4:00 pm in the Chapel of the Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, 950 SE Monterey Road, Stuart, with cremation immediately following at the Seawinds on site Crematory.
