Marilyn Frances Erickson, 86, died July 3rd, 2015 in Stuart, Florida. She was a graduate of Monticello College and attended Indiana University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.
Born to the late Ethel and Walter McDonald, she was predeceased by her husband John Andrew Erickson and her daughter and son-in-law Nancy and James Metzger.
She is survived by her daughters Susan (Dr. Richard) Helms, Memphis TN, and Amy Erickson, Dayton OH, her grandchildren Matthew (Jenni) Helms, Nathan (Sally)Helms, Lindsey Elam and Justin Corbett, great grandchildren Garrett Andrew Helms, Wesli Koch Helms and Anna Vail Helms, her sister Pat Pendergast, nephew James (Sharon) Pendergast and their children James IV and Reagan.
A long-time resident of Dayton Ohio, she was Vice President of Development at the Children's Medical Center for 10 years, served as President of the National Association for Hospital Development and received the Si Seymour Award.
An active volunteer in Dayton, Marilyn served on the boards of many charitable organizations, was president of the Dayton Philharmonic Women's Association, Miami Valley Arts Council and Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra Association and was appointed by the Governor to the Ohio Arts Council. In 1980 she was selected as one of Dayton's Top Ten Women and was the first recipient of the Dayton Vanguard Award.
She moved to Vero Beach in 1995 where she was active in Republican Women Aware, Federated and the Vero Beach Museum of Art, serving as president of the Community Committee. She moved to Stuart in 2012.
Contributions as a Memorial may be made to the Community Committee Endowment Fund-Vero Beach Museum of Art, the Children's Medical Center in Dayton Ohio, or the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance.
