Obituary

Mark Twain Vanderbilt, 93, of Palm City, Florida, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021at Cleveland Clinic Martin South Hospital, Stuart, Florida.

Born in Nyack, New York, he had been a resident of Palm City for 43 years after moving from New York.  Prior to retiring, he worked for Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River, New York for 6 years before starting his own business on March 1, 1957.  He was a renowned cabinet maker, builder and master at restoring old homes and vintage boats.

During World War II he served in the US Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila Vanderbilt of Palm City, Florida; his sister, Barbara Prindle of Columbus, Ohio; his son, Thomas (Courtenay)( Vanderbilt of Charlotte, North Carolina; daughter, Bonnie Vanderbilt of Morrisville, Pennsylvania; daughter, Margaret (Richard) Handelsman of Nyack, New York; his two stepsons, Richard (Katherine) Marvin of Burbank, California; Robert Marvin of Gainesville, Florida; 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Evelyn Forni-Rusch.
