Obituary

Michael went to his Heavenly Home to be with his Lord on October 16, 2024, at 8:15 pm.  Beloved husband to Debra Thacker Holland since August 25, 1973, Michael has faithfully supported his family despite his lifelong battle with Type I diabetes which he inherited at 14 years of age.  He is survived by wife Debra, daughter, Kimberly Holland Freeman (Terrence), Grandchildren:  Ruby Jane Freeman, Brooke Aimes Freeman, and Callum Terrence Freeman.  His surviving siblings are:  Mary Ann Holland (Winona, MN), Ruth Ann Schum, (Randy), (Rochester, NY), David Edward Holland, (Morganton, NC), and Barbara Shepherd Lopez, (Tom) (Windermere, FL).  Michael is predeceased by his Mother, Ann Marie Glenzinski Holland, father, James Michael Holland, infant brother Joseph Holland, and Sister-in-law, Susan Rumph Holland, (David Holland).
After his Naval career, his dad located permanently to Florida and Michael attended St. Mary's Catholic School for 7th and 8th grades; Clearlake Jr. High; and Cocoa Sr. High School, Rockledge, FL ('65), and earned his A.S. Degree at Brevard Jr. College in Cocoa, FL.  In high school Mike was very active as an Explorer Scout and built his own canoe with his dad. The entire troop completed a 250 mile canoe trip together from Cocoa to Jax. FL, on the St. Johns River which is the longest river in Florida, and which flows (north) upstream.
When his dad purchased a ski boat soon after moving to Florida in 1959, Mike learned to water ski on two skis, and soon advanced to slalom ski; then he learned to trick ski and use even smaller shoe skis.  Michael also enjoyed playing multiple hours of tennis especially at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, FL where he met his wife-to-be and graduated with a B.S. degree in 1971, in Business, Accounting and Finance.  Mike always wanted to operate and own his own business, and his wish came true when he and partner Larry Parker opened 'Acrylic Creations' (Lake Worth, FL) in October 1978. Due to his wife's devastating illness a few months earlier, he worked, took care of Debbie for many years during her recovery, and also their three-year-old daughter (Kim).  He later opened Hollagram Furniture with partners Russell Graham and brother David Holland, which included hard woods, formica, antiquing, refinishing as well as acrylics, with up to 14 employees which operated a total of 38 years, for both shops.
Michael was a devoted member of Trinity Temple Church, Lake Worth, FL from 1972 through 2016, serving as Sunday School Teacher with wife, Debbie and in Puppet Ministry with friends, John and Dianne Hutchins.  Debbie and Mike led a group of Young Married Couples that met regularly to fellowship. He was appointed a Deacon, and later Elder during his 44 years.  Mike was instrumental in remodeling the Church building during their 20th year founding anniversary.
Michael Holland has helped untold people and families, young and old in every way, whether through counseling or financially.  He donated completion of the Children's Home in West Palm Beach for Babies born with the AIDS virus, by Hollagram building and donating all the cabinetry, installing sinks and creating the built-in examining areas.  Hollagram built and installed the drive-up cabinetry booths at Stuart Nissan, and many other homes and offices.  He designed, drew plans, and instructed fabrication to his employees.  Michael's ability to draw and plan was God-given, as he never had formal training or schooling in mechanical drawing or architecture.
Mike will be greatly missed because he was greatly loved.  He was all about Faith, Family and Friends, and his favorite verse is Philippians 4:8-9:   Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are noble, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are of good report, if there is any virtue, if there is anything praiseworthy -- meditate on these things.  The things that you learned and saw in Me, these do, and the God of Peace shall be with you.   Selah.       NKJV
Services will be held on October 26, 2024, at 3:30 pm., at Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home, 950 S.E. Monterey Road, Stuart, FL, with Bro. Frank Cebollero officiating.  Michael will be interred afterwards in Memory Gardens, Jacksonville, FL, near Debbie's parents, Robert and Ruth Thacker.
Written with all my Love and Devotion,
Debbie
