Myrtle Vera Scott 99 years old resident of Brookdale Jensen Beach Florida passed away January 1st 2016. Born in 1916 in Shreveport Louisiana to Allean and Fred G Beatty, Myrtle received her bachelor's degree from Loyola University. Myrtle A.k.a Granny was a life-long music teacher and taught the young and elderly, even when she herself was at an advanced age. Granny's true passion was playing the piano which she mastered at a very young age. She continued to play for anyone who would listen until she was well into her 90's. Although Granny weakened quickly, she had no known illnesses and her mind was quick and sharp. Granny was married to Cassius Scott Sr. until his death in 1967 to which this union bore 4 children, Patricia Scott (Sonny), Vera Barlow (John), Cheryl Page (Alfred), Cassius Scott (Melinda). Myrtle is also survived by her grandchildren Cherie, Allison, Aileen, Alfred Jr., Malcolm, Jahi, Mitchell and Isaac, great grand children, Ashley, Randy, Tasha, Brittney, Camden, Cohen and Kyah, and neices and nephews, Fredericka, Mickey, David and Angela. Her siblings Fred Jr., Talley, and Birdie Hatchett preceded her in death. Granny leaves behind many other loved ones including cousins, friends and family in Illinois, Texas and Florida, including and not limited to the extended John Barlow family, and her best friend Izetta Jackson. She also leaves behind a very, accomplished family, and almost 100 years of memories.
