Patricia McGowan Henry, 80, of Palm City, FL died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 6:08 pm peacefully with her family by her side.

Patricia was born in the Bronx, NY on 4/15/1936, grew up in Rockville Center, Long Island and West Hartford, CT and was a long time resident of South Windsor, CT. Patricia graduated St. Joseph's Catholic High School in West Hartford, CT and Trinity College in Vermont. Patricia was formally employed by Pratt and Whitney Inc. and
Connection House Inc Women/Childrens Center (Hallie House) in Middletown CT, where she was awarded Outstanding Employee of the year for her dedication to the clients of the Hallie House and for her teaching to the staff.

Patricia is predeceased by her parents Richard Patrick McGowan and Margaret Schmidt McGowan of West Hartford, CT.

She is survived by her brothers, Ronald McGowan (and Barbara McGowan, dear childhood friend & sister-in-law)of Poughkeepsie, NY and Richard McGowan (and Barbara McGowan, sister-in-law) of Leominster, MA. Patricia's children include, Elizabeth Seiler, of Palm City, FL , Laura Shevlin, (and Dr. Aaron Shevlin, son- in-law) of Stuart, FL, Donald James Henry Jr, of Groton, CT, Kathryn Bryant (and John Bryant son-in-law) of Goshen, CT. Grandchildren include, Thomas Vinci, Samuel Vinci of Stuart, FL ,Lindy Bryant of Boston, MA, Callie Bryant of Goshen, CT, Julia Seiler, Bennett Seiler, of Palm City, FL, Joshua Henry of Waterford, CT, Andrea Henry of Hayfork, CA

Patricia was versatile in many sports, such as tennis, skiing, hiking, swimming, ice skating; and loved gardening. Her genuine love for the outdoors remained with her throughout her life. Patricia's love for art and music reflected her free spirit. Teaching painting to her grandchildren was one of her favorite pastimes. Patricia enjoyed playing the piano, listening to music, attending live theater productions, reading novels, and drinking coffee. Patricia also had a special connection with animals; loved dogs and birds.

Patricia was a very warm and fun person with a big heart, the kind of person that people wanted to be around; especially if you wanted to laugh and have an adventure. Family was most important to Patricia as she put all of her energy into raising her four children. Open to all neighboring children, her home was never closed. She was known as "momma Hen" a name that followed for the rest of her life. Her family, especially her grandchildren were her life. She was fortunate to have created unforgettable memories with her grandchildren, actually with everyone. Patricia has many close lifetime friends and new friends who she has also impacted with her infectious laughter, warmth and love.

Patricia, aka Momma Hen and Namae, will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend whose greatest passion was helping others. Her spirit will be carried on not only through her 4 children, 8 grandchildren, 2 siblings, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, but also through people she has touched from every walk of life. Patricia blessed us with many invaluable life lessons; such as forgive-it brings you back to love, see the humor in everything, see the best in everyone, serve God and others. She taught us the meaning of love! Thank you mom (aka Namae, Momma Hen) for your gift of Life on this earth and your Light as our angel!
