Obituary

It is with great sorrow and deep sadness that the family of Patrick Sparling, 52, announce his death on Sunday March 27, 2016 at home in Palm City, Florida.

Pat was much beloved by all those his life had touched: his lovely daughter, brother, sisters, nephews, nieces, fellow firemen, friends and neighbors. His life was dedicated to serving others. A fiercely proud member of the Stuart Fire Department, Pat later served there as an EMT and Fire Inspector. He retired due to a work-related injury 10 years ago.

Pat's passion for the outdoors extended far and wide, from fishing for snook in Stuart to salmon in Alaska to trout in the Adirondacks. His Harleys, Bike Weeks, home and truck were all joys for him. Pat was an avid collector, especially of of World War II memorabilia which included him fully restoring a prized vintage Willys Jeep. He had a great gift of and appreciation for storytelling in any form, always entertaining and mostly very humorous. He loved to laugh and he did so often.

Pat was a believing Christian and enjoyed serving at his church. He especially loved working with children at Sunday School.

Pat was born in Syracuse N.Y., to the late Charlotte and Richard Sparling and moved to Stuart in 1973. His is survived by his daughter Sarah, of Palm City, his brother Thomas of Winston-Salem, N.C., his sisters Sondra of Clinton, CT. and Cinda of Tivoli, N.Y., as well as many nieces and nephews.

Pat sincerely cared for anyone he met. He truly understood and appreciated the real meaning of friendship. He was a model for caring, courteousness, respect and grace. His love, big smile and hearty laugh will be so much missed by all those fortunate enough to have known him.
