IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul G.
Donaldson
November 10, 1930 – April 3, 2024
Paul G. Donaldson, born November 10, 1930 in Genoa NY, died at his home in Stuart Florida on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at the age of 93.
He is survived by his wife of 57 wonderful years, Doretha "Dodie" Donaldson, his daughters, Priscilla McAdams (Robert), of Stuart, and Debbie Carpenter (Larry) and Karen Donaldson, of South Carolina. Also surviving are Grandchildren Jason Williams (Michelle), Joel Williams, Stewart McAdams, Ashley Guzi (Adam), Eric Donaldson, Dr. Lyndsi Cress (Rob) and Sean Ford. He was blessed with 14 great grandchildren, all whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by step-sister Sarah Marich (John), several nieces and nephew, and special friends and neighbors in Riverland, his home for the last 11 years. Paul was preceded in death by his son, Rollie Donaldson, father Cecil Donaldson, mother Hazel Panaro, a brother, 2 sisters and step-mother Ella Donaldson.
Paul was born in Genoa NY, but moved to Stuart Florida as a very young child. He attended Stuart High School where he met his lifelong best friend, Billie Chase. The two of them got into a few scrapes and adventures along the way, but enjoyed many hours of conversation, card games and other activities over the years.Paul met the love of his life, Dodie at a friend's house in April, and they were married five months later, on September 1, 1967, in Stuart Florida. They owned an Insurance Agency, where he worked as the primary agent for a number of years, and retired in 1984. Upon retirement, he and Dodie bought acreage in Monticello Florida and built an air strip community. They created the air strip, digging, leveling and planting the grass themselves. Paul had obtained his private pilot's license in 1963, and owned a single engine 1949 Navion, and one of his greatest joys was flying that airplane. While in Monticello, they owned and managed a Flower Shop in nearby Tallahassee, and he and Dodie worked very hard to create a successful business in the community for five years, when they sold the business, sold the fly-in community and moved back to Ft Pierce. Paul dabbled in other work activities, such as bookkeeping and computer repair and was always successful in whatever new challenges he attempted. Paul was an avid sportsman and he loved to hunt and fish and just be in the outdoors. He and Dodie spent many years "on the road" in their RV, where they were blessed to have visited all 48 states, often with a grandchild in tow. He and Dodie visited his daughter in West Virginia many times, where he was able to deer hunt which he dearly loved to do. He and Dodie spent many happy holidays and other family celebrations over the years with Priscilla and Rollie and their families, and many happy memories have resulted from those wonderful family times. Paul loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all his heart. He was a Christian and knew that he would go to heaven to be with God, and was at peace with that.
