IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peggy S.
Robbins
March 27, 1939 – June 24, 2022
Peggy S. Robbins, 83, of Stuart, Fl, passed away suddenly due to Covid-19 complications on June 24, 2022 at Treasure Coast Hospice House.
Peggy was born in Steinhatchee, Fl in 1939 where her family, the Stewarts, became well known in the crabbing and fishing industry, resulting in a town being named after them. She was highly involved in her high school academics and counsel, graduating at the top of her high school class, as valedictorian. From there she went on to attend University of Florida. She later settled in Stuart, Fl, making it home in 1963, while caring for her family.
Peggy is a valued member of Martin County Florida with her many contributions and achievements. Starting as a school bus driver, she then enjoyed teaching Kindergarten at St Mary's Episcopal Church. She also served on the Martin County School Board for a number of years. She was later elected as Martin County Supervisor of Elections and served multiple terms, before retiring 27 years later. During this time, she was appointed by the governor to travel to many other countries throughout the world to teach them about the election process.
Peggy enjoyed travel of all kinds, from ice and fly fishing in Alaska, to pyramid climbing in Mexico, snowmobiling in Yellowstone Montana, and rainforest hiking in Ecuador, to mention only a few. The Bahamas was a favorite, particularly Hope Town, Abaco, were many treasured family vacations took place. Peggy was even traveling when she got the news of her granddaughter, Tonya, being born on her birthday.
Anyone who knew Peggy, knew she was one of kind. When told to have a good day, or drive safe, her reply was always, "Don't tell me what to do" as she offered an enduring grin, giggle, and wave goodbye. Her nickname, "Hornet", given by her father, was well lived up to.
Survivors include her favorite daughter, Cynthia Robbins; her granddaughter, Tonya Signore;her great granddaughter, Morgan, all of Stuart, Fl; her other daughter, Susan Robbins, of Georgia; her son, Garrish Robbins, and his wife, Cheri, of Micanopy, Fl; also, her cherished sister, Fran Carlton, and family, of Tallahassee, Fl.
Services are currently postponed, due to the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic, and will be announced at a later time.
The family would like to remind everyone to wear a mask, wash your hands, and stay safe from this unnecessary and heartbreaking type of loss. Covid-19 is still a threat and ravaging many loved ones.
Please share any memories you have of our beloved, Peggy.
