Peter Sangas, 86, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, passed away, Sunday August 2, 2015 at the Treasure Coast Hospice House in Stuart, Florida.

Today we celebrate the life of Pete Sangas. He enjoyed 56 beautiful years of marriage to his wife Connie who together raised two children Irene and Peter. He was the foundation of our family, taking care of his mother Matina, raising his children with Connie, running several businesses and navigating an uncertain path dealing with Connie's long battle with cancer.

He was a man full of fire, never giving in and always ready to meet any challenge head on. His glass was always half full. He spoke his mind and was always fiercely loyal to his friends and family from the Ice Hockey days of his youth to his last. He was a naturally gifted athlete playing several sports during his youth which resulted in a scholarship to Seton Hall and an offer to play professional baseball. He eventually joined the Army and reached the rank of Sergeant. He also played baseball in the Army league and caught for Don Newcomde. He was a force to recon with on the golf course as many of this fellow golfers came to know.

He was a descendant of Greek immigrant parents and grew up in New York with his two brothers John and George. He and Connie moved from Bayside to retire to Florida to enjoy the warmth and a more relaxed life style.

He will be greatly missed, but his presence will last forever. He is survived by his children Irene and Peter, grandchildren Joe, Elizabeth and Cody.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 10:00 am at the Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church of the Hamptons, 111 Saint Andrews Road, Southampton, New York 11968 (1-631-283-6169). A reception celebrating Peter's life will follow.
