Peter Soltis' Obituary
Peter Soltis, 85, First Sgt. E8, Retired, of Stuart, FL passed away on Friday, January 6, 2012, surrounded by his wife and children at his home.
He was born March 10, 1926 in Monessen, PA to the late Michael and Mary Soltis.
He proudly served his country for 25 years in the military with active duty in the Korean Conflict (Airborne, Jump Master) and the Allied Occupation after WW II, then retired in 1966. After his army service he moved to West Chester, PA where he worked for the Burroughs Corp. and the Somat Corp from which he retired as a lead electronic technician.
In West Chester he was a member of the Elks Club and Calvary Lutheran Church. He retired to Florida in 1995 and has been a resident of the Treasure Coast for 15 years coming from West Chester, PA. Peter was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and School. Peter was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Marianne Soltis of Stuart, FL; a son and daughter-in-law Dieter Soltis and Danica Remy Soltis of Mill Valley, CA; two daughters and a son-in-law Mary Irene Soltis of Stuart, FL and Marion Soltis Zoretich and Thomas Zoretich of Alexandria, VA; and six grandchildren Natasha, Katrina, Marissa and Arianna Zoretich of Virginia and Dylan Gamley and Drew Soltis of California. Peter is also survived by three sisters Mary Lacanic, Dorothy Stefan, Margaret Roe all of Monessen, PA and one brother Paul Soltis of Valinda, CA.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 26, 2011 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2450 SE Ocean Boulevard, Stuart, FL 343996. Friends will be received in the church hall after the service.
Interment will take place with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to: Redeemer Lutheran Church and School, 2450 SE Ocean Boulevard, Stuart, FL 343996.
