Phyllis V. Jones, 85, of Jensen Beach, Florida, died Saturday, October 11, 2014 at her home.
Phyllis was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 20, 1929. She married Douglas Jones and moved to The Bahamas, where she spent many happy years and raised her son, Wayne. Phyllis moved to Florida after the passing of her son and husband. She valiantly fought Breast Cancer for years, until losing her battle on October 11, 2014.
She is survived by her brother, Raymond La Pine; her sister-in-law, Nancy La Pine; Nieces, Linda Collar, and her husband Eric, Debra Collar, and her husband Ralph, Nancy Nothman, Christy Carriero, and her husband, James, and nephew, Patrick La Pine, and his wife, Kathleen.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Alexander and Eva La Pine, her husband, Douglas Jones, her son Wayne Jones, two brothers, Jack and William La Pine, and sister-in-law, Florence La Pine.
Phyllis will be cremated and at her request, and her ashes scattered at sea with those of her husband's and son's.
Phyllis donated much of her time to the Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center in Stuart. In memory and honor of her and in lieu of flowers, Contributions as a Memorial may be made to the Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center, 890 NE Ocean Boulevard, Stuart, Florida 34996, or to the Local Chapter of the American Cancer Society, 865 SE Monterey Commons Boulevard, Stuart, Florida 34996.
