IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Phyllis J.
Sullivan
September 21, 1936 – November 15, 2024
Phyllis "Phyl" Jean (Hadaway) Sullivan, 88, of Palm City, Florida, arrived in heaven on November 15, 2024.
Phyl was born September 21, 1936 in Washington D.C. She attended Anacostia High School where she met Perry "Bud" Sullivan, the love of her life. They married in January, 1955, and had three children: son, Rick married to Cynthia; daughter Terri (Walsh); and daughter Kelli (Cuppett) married to Bill Zeigler. Family was important to Phyl and she adored them all, especially her grandchildren, Mackenzie (Kantwill), Kyle (Walsh), Taelor (Heinzel), and Makayla (Cuppett). Her husband Perry "Bud", and her parents Llyod and Estelle predeceased her.
As a young woman, Phyl worked for the Central Intelligence Agency. After the birth of Rick, the first child, she did not return to work. She became a home maker. She offered babysitting services to bring in extra income. In mid-1970s, she started a co-op daycare program at her church called Mother's Day Out. The program provided day care for 4 hours,2 days a week. When Bud retired, they relocated to Palm City, Florida in 1991.
Phyl was always involved in her church and served as a Deacon. She volunteered in children's ministry, Awanas, Stephens Ministry, Lahia, and Bible Study. She could be found praying in the chapel at her church lifting the needs of others to the Lord. She loved to play games: especially Bridge, Hearts, and Mexican Train. She was an excellent seamstress, and had a keen eye for interior decorating. She was compassionate, generous, and genuinely cared for others. She had the gift for gab. Her presence will be deeply missed.
