Obituary

Richard “Dick” Bonham, born December 13, 1937, to Henry and Geraldine Bonham in Homestead, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Richard grew up in Homestead and graduated from South Dade High School in 1957. Shortly after, he proudly joined the United States Army, where he deeply cherished his service and his time spent in Korea. His devotion to his country continued throughout his life as he remained an active member of the National Guard.

After returning home, Richard built a long and rewarding career with Florida Power & Light, where he was known for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and the lifelong friendships he made along the way. Richard lived an active and spirited life. He loved going to the gym, played in numerous intramural sports leagues, and rarely passed up the chance to watch a good western movie. Above all, nothing brought him more joy than time spent with his grandchildren—his pride, his happiness, and his favorite people in the world. He leaves behind three children who adored him: Rob Bonham (Christy), Kim Rutzke (Fred), and Rick Bonham (Michelle). He was the cherished grandfather of seven grandchildren: Connor, Meghan, Dillon, Jordan, Bryce, Ava, and Lila, each of whom brought immense joy and purpose to his life. Richard also leaves behind Linda Bonham, the mother of his children and a dear friend, whose connection to him remained warm and meaningful throughout his life. Richard is predeceased by his parents, Henry and Geraldine, as well as his brother, Robert.

A graveside service to honor Richard’s life will be held at Cabellero Rivero in Naranja, Fl on April 17th at 11am. Richard will be remembered for his strength, his dedication, his humor, and the profound love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
