Richard "Dick" Joseph Benz, Sr., 86, of Nettles Island in Jensen Beach, Florida, passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 at the Treasure Coast Hospice House in Stuart, Florida.

Born in the Bronx, New York, he had been a permanent resident of Jensen Beach for five years, and was a "Snowbird", for fifteen years prior, coming from Stony Brook, New York.

He honorably served his Country as a member of the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Dick was a skilled bocce player and a gifted woodworker, using his skill to construct model ships and airplanes which gave him great enjoyment.

He is survived by his beloved wife of twenty-eight years, Helen G. Benz of Jensen Beach.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at 10 AM in the Chapel of Holy Family Catholic Church, 2330 SE Mariposa Avenue, Port Saint Lucie, Florida 34952 (772-335-2517).
