Obituary

Richard Fassberg, 80 years old, died at Treasure Coast Hospice on May 11, 2013. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Spring Valley, New York. He graduated from New York Military Academy and Ohio University and served in the United States Navy Band from 1955 -1957. Until his retirement and move to Palm City in 1996, he owned Rockland Paper Products in Nanuet, New York. While in NY, he was active in the Pomona Jewish Center, the Spring Valley Credit Union, the Spring Hill Ambulance Corps, and the Spring Valley Rotary Club. He is a Past Master of Athelstan Lodge F and AM. He was also an Eagle Scout. In Florida he served on the Martin County Construction Industrial Licensing Board and was a volunteer with the Stuart Police Department. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ronnie Auerbach Fassberg of Palm City, his three daughters, Amy Fassberg Kurz of Raleigh, NC, Lisa Fassberg Weller of Westwood, MA and Stacy Fassberg Yaffe of Shoham, Israel, five grandchildren, brother, Robert Fassberg of Manhattan, NY and sister Lynn Hammer of Port St. Lucie. A memorial service will be held at Temple Beit HaYam in Stuart on Tuesday, May 14 at 11 AM. Shiva will be observed at the family home in Palm City on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Beit Ha Yam Mortgage Principal Fund, 951 SE Monterey Commons Blvd., Stuart, FL 34996 or to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997. Arrangements are by the Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, Stuart, FL.
