Richard Gallo passed away peacefully on December 28, 2020, in Stuart, Florida at the age of 90.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, on December 19, 1930, he was the son of the late Evelina and Narciso Gallo. He is cherished by his sons Thomas (Jacquelyn) Gallo and Matthew (Emily) Gallo and daughter Laura (Brian) Copley. Also, remembering him with love are his grandchildren, Megan, Christopher, Jane, Dana, Samuel, and Josephine. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Sally Lightbody. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his son, Richard Gallo, his brother, Robert Gallo, and his sister, Elaine Davison.
Richard attended St. Ambrose High School and Detroit Catholic Central High School where he was an accomplished athlete in both basketball and football. After graduating, he enlisted with the Navy and served proudly in the Korean War aboard the USS Picking DD-685. Upon returning from service, he was employed with General Adjustment Bureau until his retirement in 1992.
Richard was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed golfing, boating, and time spent making memories on Bear Lake. Throughout his life, he remained a loyal fan of the Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Lions, and Detroit Tigers. He was also a proud member of The Knights of Columbus. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and anyone who was lucky enough to know him.
A private family service is scheduled at St. Mary's Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, Florida.
