Richard (Dick) Granat of Palm City passed away on May 18th, 2022 at the age of 77. He was born in Miami on June 2nd, 1945 to David and Barbara Granat. Having spent the majority of his life in Miami, Dick was a long suffering Dolphins fan and remained a passionate Cane fan to the end. Just a mention of the 2002 pass interference call was enough to elicit a string of curses. Ever the diplomat though, he was always quick to mention his love for the Gators when in the right company. He loved cooking, especially for others, and was known for his ribs. Thrust into teaching after college, he embraced it with vigor and stayed an educator his whole career. Dick taught across all of social studies at Miami Killian High including history, government, economics, and sociology. Kind, caring and full of charm, Dick made friends everywhere he went in life. A loving father and step-father, he is survived by his children Mathew, Jennifer, Jon and stepdaughter Keri as well as his grandchildren Ryan, Zachary, Kaitlin, Kylie, Kendall and Sebastian.

He was preceded in death by his wife Katherine, his brothers William and Robert, and stepson Kirk.

There will be a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM on Saturday June 3rd at Treasure Coast Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 21 SE Central Parkway, Stuart, FL 34994
