Hobe Sound — Richard "Dick" S. Kelly, 86, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018

He leaves his wife of 46 years, Gail (Whisnant) Kelly; his daughter, Lynne Ann Walsh; his sister Barbara Vickery; grandson, Christopher Walsh; his sister-in-law, Robin Whisnant and of course, his little dog Zoe.

Raised in Glenrock, NJ, the son of Charles and Irma (Lee) Kelly, he lived in NJ most of his life, before retiring to Florida.  While growing up, he and his family regularly attended All Saints Episcopal Church.  One of his fondest memories of his boyhood was creating large moving Christmas decorations from scratch, incorporating an old dentist chair for rotation and winning the Glenrock Town Christmas Decoration for many years with this designs.

He attended Ridgewood High School, graduating in 1950, he served briefly and proudly in the National Guard.  He left to attend Fairleigh Dickinson College, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1954. While there, he and friends founded the "Poor Fellows" fraternity, Epsilon Nu Delta.

Dick worked the majority of his career in the wire business, predominately for International Wire.  Over the years, his expertise, relationships and reputation led him to be named an Executive Vice-President.  After retiring from Carlise, he continued as a consultant, finally retiring at 83.

Dick had an almost obsessive attention to detail and a memory that could rival any database.  After retirement, he could often be found chewing on a favorite cigar (maybe sipping on some vodka), while pouring over news of the world, the market and politics.  Any of which, he was happy to discuss at length.

Those who knew him well, enjoyed his wit and dry sense of humor and benefited from his kind and gentle heart and his wisdom
