Richard C.
Sievinen
Apr 21, 1935 — Dec 22, 2017
Jensen Beach
On Friday, December 22, 2017, Richard C. Sievinen passed away at Martin Memorial South Hospital in Stuart, Florida at the age of 82.
Richard, known to all as Dick, was born an only child in the small town of Ashtabula, Ohio on April 21, 1935. Due to his deep Ohio roots, Dick was a diehard Ohio Buckeyes fan. He could be found rooting for the Buckeyes every Saturday afternoon during college football season. He would never hesitate to holler and cheer at someone wearing Buckeye paraphernalia.
Dick was also a retired educator for the Martin County School District. The majority of his career in the Florida education system was spent teaching students American Government at South Fork High School. While he was considered a strict and tough teacher, he was also fair which former students would always tell him years later. He retired from the Martin County School District in 1997 and never looked back. Retirement suited him and gave him the free time to write his life's story (later named "Hysterical Tomes") for his children.
A resident of Martin County for over 40 years, Dick is survived by his wife, Tiva Sievinen of Jensen Beach, Florida; two children Eric Sievinen of Ogden, Utah and Mari Sievinen of Orlando, Florida; and four grandchildren, Mina, Alice, Gabby, and Lucy all of Ogden.
