RICHARD LAFOREST WESTON died on September 24, 2021 at his residence in Palm City, Florida. He was born August 17, 1935 in Waukegan, Illinois, the son of Irving Laforest Weston and Orra Anne Clayton.
Richard graduated High School at Annapolis High School in Annapolis, MD. Following graduation, he trained at the US Naval Training Center Bainbridge in Port Deposit, Maryland. He then moved on to serve his country at the San Diego Naval Base, and the Naval Outlying Landing Field Imperial Beach where he attended radio school. Richard's love for radio communication compelled him to receive further training as a Radio Printer. He then continued to serve his country at the Naval Communications Station in Cheltenham, MD where he was discharged in 1959. After his discharge from the Navy, Richard served as a Fire Lieutenant in Fort Lauderdale, Florida until he retired at the age 50.
Surviving Richard, in addition to his wife, Kathleen Doris Weston, are his three beautiful daughters. His firstborn, Sandy Mahue and her husband Brian of Boynton Beach, Florida; his second born daughter, Laura Smart of Margate, Florida; and his last born daughter, Melissa Valentine and her husband Matthew of Cary, North Carolina. Also surviving Richard are his four stepchildren. His stepdaughter, Laurie Gutty and her husband Jid of Port Saint Lucie, Florida; his stepdaughter, Paula Thomoson and her husband Todd of Pompano Beach, Florida; his stepson, William Reker and his wife Janet of Stuart, Florida; his stepson, Michael Reker of Port Saint Lucie, Florida. Richard left behind fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Richard lived his life to the fullest and his many hobbies were witness to this fact. Some of Richard's hobbies included Ham Radio communications, snow skiing, traveling abroad in his motorhome, hiking the Appalachian trail (where he was nicknamed, "Quick Draw" because he could draw his tent so quickly), and his last and most favorite hobby was paramotor flying. Richard, also known as, Two Step, by the parameter group, held the title for the eldest foot-launcher pilot during his time of flying. Richard was also a founding member of Treasure Coast Powered Motors.
A Celebration of Life service for Richard will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at New Hope Fellowship Church at 3900 S.W. Citrus Blvd, Palm City, Florida 34990
