Woodcock
August 10, 1934 – January 1, 2019
The New Year brought peace and comfort to Richard Woodcock 84, who passed away the morning of January 1,2019 at his winter home in Port St. Lucie , Florida. Treasure Coast Hospice and close family were present as he gently passed into the welcoming arms of his Lord and Savior.
He was born on August 10, 1934 in Bowling Green, Kentucky; son of the late Richard and Olive (Taft) Woodcock. Richard married Diane (Luther) Woodcock on April 12, 1958, his loving wife of 60 years. He is survived by his children Mark (Andrea) Woodcock, Michael (Kelly) Woodcock, Timothy (Deborah) Woodcock and Robin Houser Benziger. Three grandchildren, Carly (Dave) Dwyer, Tori Woodcock (fiancé Hayden) and Grayson Woodcock. His sister Hazel (Jack) Strachan, predeceased him. He is also survived by his brother Stanley (Carol) Woodcock and several sister and brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
"Woody" was a purpose driven man in his love and devotion to his faith, family and friends. He would frequently comment how grateful he was to witness the support of those who knew and loved him during his battle with pancreatic cancer. He referred to the many things in his life as true gifts from God including his ever loyal dog, Katie, who was always there comforting him.
"Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives to you... Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." John 14:27
Two memorial services will held.
On Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Hope Lutheran Church, 1750 SE Lennard Rd., Port St. Lucie, Florida 34952 at 11:00AM followed by a luncheon at the church.
On Monday, January 14, 2019 at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 1534 Ruie Rd., North Tonawanda, NY 14120 at 11:00AM followed by a luncheon at Woodcock Bothers Brewing Company at 638 Lake Street, Wilson, NY 14172.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Woody's memory may be made to either of the churches listed above; Treasure Coast Hospice, 5000 NW Dunn Rd, Fort Pierce, FL 34981 or Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, PO Box 631, Buffalo, NY 14240.
