IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bob Belcher
November 8, 1929 - November 26, 2015
Robert "Bob" Belcher, 86, of Stuart, Florida, passed away on Thanksgiving, November 26, 2015 at Brookdale Stuart under the care of Treasure Coast Hospice.
Born in Cambridge, MA, Bob was raised in Somerville, MA and attended Coyne Electrical School and Boston University before receiving his Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Miami in 1957. He served as a Private First Class in the US Army from 1951-1952 and married Elizabeth "Betty" Fenlason in 1952. They settled in Ipswich, MA and raised three children. Bob and Betty were married for 62 years before his wife's passing in 2014.
Bob was employed by Gulf Oil and Goodrich Tire before becoming a manager at Federal National Linen Service in Portland, ME. Upon returning to Ipswich, he purchased and operated Pride Washroom Service, a paper supply and delivery company, as well as Pride Mooring Service for the Ipswich Yacht Club. He was a founding member of the Ipswich Association of Great Neck and served as its president from 1983-1984. Bob was an avid sailor and ice-boater, building many of his own boats.
Betty and Bob wintered in Florida for many years before fully retiring and becoming permanent residents of Riverland on South Kanner Highway in Stuart, FL, where they enjoyed the community activities, boating, and yardsales.
Bob is survived by his children and grandchildren, all residing in Massachusetts: Carol Weintraub and her husband, Joseph, and their daughter, Sarah; Barbara Amundsen and her partner, Sherrie, and her children Harley and Sean; and Steven Belcher and his wife, Bambi and their son, Bowie. He was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Belcher.
Memorial services will take place in Massachusetts with interment at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord, Massachusetts.
