IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Martin
Gallagher
April 13, 1943 – June 26, 2023
Robert (Bob) Gallagher, 80, of Jensen Beach, FL passed away peacefully on the morning of June 26th, 2023 after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer's disease.
He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 50 years, Terry Gallagher of Jensen Beach, sister Joan Devine of Indian Harbour Beach FL, two children Mark Gallagher (Brandi) and Paige Benedetti (Michael) of Stuart FL, three grandchildren Trevi, Barrett and Corbet and nieces and nephews.
Bob was born on April 13, 1943 in Westchester, New York to Martin and Ann Gallagher.
Bob attended Stepinac Catholic and Roosevelt High schools in New York. He then moved to Florida and attended Florida Atlantic University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in marine biology in 1968. He worked for the state as a marine biologist on the west coast of Florida and later moved to Jensen Beach to be the project manager for the Florida Power and Light environmental impact study. He continued his work as a biologist and scientific author with Applied Biology Inc., passionately tracking and tagging sea turtles along Hutchinson Island.
Bob was introduced to the security and fire alarm industry in 1980 and began the next chapter of his life building SVI Systems, Inc. He continued to provide peace of mind for the community for 35 years.
Bob had many passions. When he was younger he loved cars and raced recreationally. In Florida, he became an avid swimmer and was involved with the Masters program through Martin County Aquatics since the early 1970's. He loved snow skiing, golfing, traveling and watching Bob Vila's This Old House.
Bob's greatest passion was his family.
He will be missed beyond measure.
A Celebration of Bob Gallagher's Life will be held on Saturday, September 9 at the Jensen Beach (formally Eagle Marsh) Golf Club, 3869 NW Royal Oak Drive, Jensen Beach, FL at 5:00p.m.
Bob would have appreciated donations of sympathy towards environmental causes, children's medical organizations or to the Alzheimer's Association www.alz.org.
Please feel free to share a remembrance or message of condolence with the family through this online guestbook.
