Obituary

Robert James Peck, 90, of Stuart, passed away March 7, 2016 at Treasure Coast Hospice.
Bob was born April 30, 1925 in the family home in Stuart, FL he was the son of Robert and Ada Jane Peck. He was a lifelong resident.

Bob served in the United States Army during World War II and participated in campaigns in Northern France; Ardennes; Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with four bronze service stars; the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
During his career as a finish carpenter he worked for several contractors in Stuart.

Bob was an active member of Abundant Life Ministries of Stuart. He served as an elder and visited hundreds of families to share with them and provide spiritual support. Bob and his wife, Rita also oversaw King's Kitchen at Abundant Life Ministries for 11 years, serving 5000 meals per year on Friday nights. They also coordinated holiday meals for Meals on Wheels and Council on Aging. The work Bob and Rita did helped other local churches pattern similar organizations to help provide meals to those in need.

Bob was also a Boy Scout Master of Troop 400 for many years.

Bob was an extremely patriotic man and had a strong love for his country. He often would lead memorial services and assist placing flags on veterans' graves. He was a 65 plus year member of American Legion Post 62, Stuart where he served as Commander and Chaplain.

Bob's hobbies included playing the accordion and organ; wood crafting; cooking and baking pies.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 66 ½ years, Rita Taube Peck; loving children, Mary Hudson (Travis), Robert Peck (Linda) and Kevin Peck (Lillian); cherished grandchildren, Mary Beth Furtado, Wesley Hudson, Robert Peck, Ben Peck, Sarah Hayes, Rebekah Peck, Michael Peck, Anthony Peck, Kelsey Suggs, and Alexandra Cruz; 14 grand grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and sister, Roberta LaRue.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 12:30 pm, Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home with a service at 12:30 PM, Pastor Jonathan McClain, officiating. A Reception will follow the service at the Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home. A Committal Service with military honors will be held at 2:30 PM at Fernhill Memorial Gardens in Stuart.
