Robert L. Smith Robert "Bob" L. Smith, 88, recently of Stuart, Florida, and formerly of Pulaski, New York, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, surrounded by his wife and daughters. Bob had become suddenly and seriously ill due to a recurring condition that plagued him throughout the past year. He had remained active until 24 hours prior to his passing.

He was born to parents Charles and Mary Smith on March 20, 1932, in Orwell, New York. Bob attended and graduated from Sandy Creek Central School in 1950. He served 2 years with the United States Army in Korea and Japan and also served in the New York State National Guard for 18 years. He volunteered with the Orwell Fire Dept for over 40 years and faithfully attended and served in his local church all his life.

Bob is survived by the love of his life, Marcelline, who he married in 1955. They had just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in May, together with their family. Bob is also survived by his son, Steven Smith of New York; daughters Cynthia Brown and husband, Jamie  of Florida; Marjorie Houghtaling of Florida;, Brenda Smith of Florida; Dee Miller and husband Chuck of New York; his brother, Herbert Smith and wife, Virginia of New York; sister, Ethel Otis of New York; cousins, and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was known for his love for people and his enjoyment in helping them, often in quiet ways, by providing transportation or feeding them. Many enjoyed his chicken barbecues or benefited from a ride to medical appointments.

A small memorial service will be held in Florida, with a larger memorial graveside service held in New York at a later date.
