Roland Monast, 90, of Hobe Sound, Florida, formerly of Acushnet, MA., entered into his eternal rest on March 21, 2017. Roland was born in Central Falls, Rhode Island. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, a life partner of 31 years Florence Trommenschlager; Sons: Gary (Sue) and James (Sharon), Daughter: Debra (Jason), stepsons Paul, Robert and Roger; stepdaughters Christine and Claudette; brother Tim (Claire) and sister Yvette Bernier. Also, a host of Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. Roland was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years Cora Durocher Monast, and brother Rene', sister Lorraine.
Roland was a "Gentleman Farmer," Roland owned and farmed land with his family in his earlier years of life. Among his other accomplishments, he was a WWII Navy veteran, where he served and fought in the Normandy Invasion. He earned an Honorable Discharge in 1946 and later retired from Rodney Metals, New Bedford, MA. after 40 years as a forklift driver and machine operator. In his retirement, Roland enjoyed the beach, fishing, and intarsia woodcraft.
A Celebration of Life for Mr. Monast will be held at Lakeside Village Social Hall on Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 1-4 PM 7 Federal Hwy. Hobe Sound, Florida 33455. The family appreciates gestures and acts of kindness at their time of bereavement.
