Ronald Peter Danis, 83, of Fort Pierce, Florida, passed peacefully on February 2, 2014.
Born April 29, 1930, Ron hails originally from Woonsocket, Rhode Island but also claims California, Venezuela and Florida as his homes.
He graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1947, received his B.S. from URI in 1951 and his M.S. in Physics from Northeastern U in Boston in 1961. He entered the U.S. Army in 1951 during the Korean War and worked as a 2nd Lt. on the Nike Missile Program. After the service, he continued working in the missile and space industry until the 1970's when he transitioned into real estate as his final vocation.
Ron always enjoyed a variety of sports from hunting in his youth, to skiing, tennis and sailing. Ron's sailing exploits earned him the nickname of "Captain Ron." Ron was privileged to have opportunities to travel worldwide and always enjoyed exploring the finest cuisine wherever he went.
Son of deceased Harvey Danis and Annette Ferron, Ron is survived by his two brothers, Paul H. Danis Sr. and wife, Anita (Bachand) of Apollo Beach, Florida, and Norman R. Danis and wife, Barbara; his former wife, Janice Frances (Coe) and their two children, Dr. Ronald Peter Danis Jr. of Madison, Wisconsin and Jessica Elaine Gordon of Columbia, Missouri; former wife, Belkys Danis and their children, Kevin Harvey Danis and Cynthia Keidy Danis of Port St. Lucie, Florida; as well as six grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
A private memorial service is being arranged, and he will be interred at South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, Florida.
