Obituary

Ronne Rolfe Kobis, of Palm City, FL passed away peacefully on Friday, March 2, 2012 at the age of 82. Mr. Kobis was a resident of East Aurora, NY and Palm City, Florida.

He was born in Buffalo, October 11, 1929. Ronne received his law degree from University of Buffalo Law School in 1953. He served in the Army Reserve for 16 years, retiring with the rank of Captain. He was a member of the Erie County Bar, New York State and American Bar Associations. He was a golf enthusiast and a member of the East Aurora Country Club. He had conducted a law practice in East Aurora for many years, and had been a long time resident in the Village of East Aurora, NY. He was a former East Aurora Village Justice and from 1964 to 1992 was Town Attorney for the Town of Aurora.

He was a member of the American Arbitration Association. He belonged to the East Aurora Chamber of Commerce from 1960 to 1988, and was a president for 4 terms. He was a member of the Rotary Club and former President. He was a member of the East Aurora Presbyterian Church, as well as the Palm City Presbyterian Church in FL. Ronne was an avid sailor and a member of the Buffalo Harbor Sailing Club. He was a member of the Masonic Order since 1957.

In 1971 Mr. Kobis purchased the historic Roycroft Power House, in East Aurora NY, a landmark building located on the Roycroft Campus founded by Elbert Hubbard in the early 1900's. The building was renovated to include his law practice as well as doctors, dentists, and other professional offices. He occupied the building until his retirement in 1992. The building, known as the Roycroft Professional Center, was destroyed by fire in 1997.

Following his retirement, he was a resident of Palm City FL, spending summers in his home in East Aurora, NY. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Diane Louise (Adkins) Kobis, his four children, Lisa of Buffalo NY, Paul of West Palm Beach FL, James of Tampa FL, Dave of Allegany NY, and their spouses along with three grandchildren, Steven, Justin and John.
