Obituary

Rory Dominic Sherony was born on December 11, 1929 to Dominic and Amelia (Donini) Sherony and  passed away of natural causes on December 24, 2023 in Stuart ,Florida.

Rory's father Dominic was the founder of Sherony Hardware and Amelia his mother was a homemaker. Rory was a kind, gentle ,loving and devoted husband that married the love of his life, Linda Zeit in 1994.Soon after that her family became his. He was born and raised, in Highwood ,Illinois and graduated from Oak Terrace School and Highland Park High School.

Rory is survived by his wife Linda (Zeit) Sherony, his sons Keith (Linda) Sherony, Mark (Debbie) and daughter Marcia (Michael Luciani).
Linda's children Robert (Amanda) Brock and Michelle Brock ,13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Kate Sherony.

Over his career Rory worked for Sherony Hardware, the family business in Highwood, Ravinia Plumbing and Heating in Highland
Park, and he retired from Skokie Valley Laundry and Dry Cleaners  after 25 years as a route salesman.

Rory lived to spend time at the family cabin on Indian Lake in Manistique, Michigan. He was most fond of his summers there with the kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, swimming ,boating or frequenting the "Nifty Fifties" ice cream parlor or Dairy Kreme. The summer of 2023 was Rory's 94th consecutive year going "Up to the U.P."

Rory was proud to be a first generation American. In addition to his Hawaiian shirts for which he was famous, his wardrobe featured a Stars and Stripes motif. He was a life-long, die-hard Cubs fan and was elated (and relieved) by the Cubs World Series victory in 2016. Rory was an avid hunter and long-time member of the Highland Park Moose Hunting Club .

Rory was larger than life and known for his humor and quick wit. He had an eye for fun and never passed on a chance to have some .
He lived his life to the fullest ,his way, and he will be dearly missed by everyone his life touched.

Indian Lake will never be the same.
The family will have a memorial at Indian Lake .
