Obituary

Rosemary McCarthy Gorman, 91, of Stuart, Florida, died peacefully at the Treasure Coast Hospice House in Fort Pierce, Florida, on Sunday, May 18, 2014.

She was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 13, 1923.

She worked for AT&T during World War II in New York and Philadelphia. She married her husband, Joe Wynne Gorman, Sr., an attorney, in 1948. The couple promptly moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to start their family. They raised three beautiful children, Joe, Mary Lou, and Patty.

She worked at Jordan Marsh in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida during the 60s and 70s, as a Sales Manager. She took a break from work to raise her family. Then she returned to AT&T until her retirement in 1988.

She moved to Hidden Harbor Estates in Stuart in 1998, where she enjoyed camping at Sand Sprit Park. She had many other adventures up and down the East Coast of the United States and Canada. She lived life to its fullest: boating, camping, and traveling as much as possible.

The highlight of her life was the birth of her granddaughter, Sunshine I. Cain. The two shared a very close and special life-long bond. They loved shopping, going to the beach, and talking for hours together. When her great-grandson, Robert M. Regan III, was born, the three shared many more special years together.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her daughters, Mary Lou and Patty; and her brother, Charles B. McCarthy.

Survivors include her son, Joe; her granddaughter, Sunshine Cain, and her husband, Kenneth; great-grandson, Robert M. Regan, III; and several nieces and nephews and families.

Joe and Sunshine were fortunate enough to be with her at the end.

In lieu of flowers, contributions as a memorial may be made to the Boys and Girls Club or to the Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, Florida 34997.
