Sally K. Dayton

Sally K. Dayton, 79, passed away on Wednesday January 28, 2015 at Harper House, Treasure Coast Hospice. She was the daughter of the late Anne (Milner) and William Kingston of Salem, Massachusetts. Born in Salem, Sally resided in Salem and Beverly, Massachusetts; West Caldwell, New Jersey; Bow, New Hampshire; and Richmond, Kentucky before moving to Stuart, Florida in 1990.
Sally is survived by her husband David R. Dayton, with whom she celebrated 59 years of marriage, her children: Dianne and husband Thomas Dowd of Belgrade, Maine; Stephen Dayton and wife Kim of Northwood, New Hampshire; Donna and husband William Losefsky of Gilmanton, New Hampshire and Mark Dayton of Baltimore, Maryland; grandchildren: Laura Dowd and husband David Scott of Belgrade, Maine; Sarah Dowd of Champaign, Illinois; Cameron Dayton Duckworth of Portland, Oregon; Cray, Madelyn, and Jamie Dayton of Forest Hills, Maryland; and great granddaughter Iris Scott of Belgrade, Maine. She leaves her brother, William (Al) Kingston of Berwick, Maine; nephew and nieces, and beloved cousins.
Sally and her husband have lived in Stuart at the Yacht and Country Club for the past 25 years. She has been an active volunteer for the Hibiscus Children's Center for abused children and Treasure Coast Hospice. A parishioner of Saint Luke's Episcopal Church she served as a member of the Altar Guild. An active member of the Yacht and Country Club, Sally was an avid bridge player. She enjoyed golf, croquet, bingo, and trivia. As a native New Englander, Sally was a devoted Red Sox and Patriots fan. In addition, Sally was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and a former Licensed Practical Nurse in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
Sally's family would like to thank the staff of the Martin Memorial Hospital Emergency and ICU for their caring and attentiveness, and also the staff of Harper House, Treasure Coast Hospice.
There will be a Memorial Service to celebrate Sally's life at Saint Luke's Episcopal Church, 5151 SE Railway Avenue, Port Salerno, Florida at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, February 4, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Sally's name may be made to Hibiscus Children's Center, 2400 Northeast Dixie Highway, Jensen Beach, FL 34957 or Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian St, Stuart, FL 34997.
