Sandra K. Nixon Garrett Swofford passed away quietly in her sleep on Saturday, May 20, 2017, following a long, brave battle with multiple ailments. She is preceded in death by her children, Tamyra Diane Garrett and Russell Edward Garrett, her parents Dorothy Rose Files Nixon, Milburn "Cotton" Nixon, and her adoring sister, who also recently passed, Penny Nixon Brawley.
She is survived by her beloved grandson, Garrett Owen Decker, daughter Lisa Garrett Decker, brother Mike H. Nixon, nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended family members in Arkansas and beyond. Although she was a quiet, reserved, and extremely private person, she enjoyed time with her family above all else, and was thrilled to travel abroad on her favorite Bahamian cruises with them as her years came to an end. Sunrises, Sunsets, "Sunday Family Funday", and Port Canaveral Cruise Cams all brought a giant, beautiful smile to her face!
Arrangements are being made with Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home in Stuart, Florida, www.treasurecoastseawinds.com, and although there is no formal service at this time due to family's wishes, a Celebration of Life will be scheduled and shared with all friends and family via Facebook and personal contacts as soon as it is arranged. In lieu of flowers, any memorials and donations may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, http://treasurehealth.org, who provided caring, professional, and loving care in Mom's last hours. The family is thankful to have had the precious time allowed with Sandra, loving Mother, Daughter, Sister, Grandmother, Cousin, and Aunt to many, who will miss her greatly.
