IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shannon Allison
Cox
February 8, 1981 – March 30, 2024
Shannon Allison Cox, 43, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 30, 2024, after an eleven year battle with breast cancer. Shannon was born in Stuart, Florida on February 8, 1981 to Dr. Donald and Margo Cox.
After Shannon graduated from Martin County High School in 1999, she went on to study at Florida State University where she earned a degree in
communications. During that time, she was an active member of the Tri Delta Sorority. She was also a member of the Treasure Coast Rowing Club for many years. Professionally, Shannon excelled as an office manager and her attention to detail was unparalleled. Shannon was characterized by her quiet strength, endless patience, caring heart, and inquisitive mind. Her presence illuminated the lives of all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she leaves behind.
At the center of Shannon's life was her cherished partner, Patrick Byrne, with whom she shared a bond of unconditional love and unwavering support. Together, they created countless memories and faced life's challenges hand in hand. Shannon's love extended to her niece and nephews, who brought boundless joy and laughter into her life. She looked forward to every moment spent with them, creating beautiful memories that will be treasured for generations to come. Shannon's authenticity and generous heart could be felt by anyone she encountered; she never met a stranger. She had a special gift of not only seeing the good in people, but bringing out the best in them as well. Her love for the outdoors brought out the happy free spirit that defined her. Shannon embraced an active lifestyle, relishing every opportunity to explore the great outdoors. Whether running through scenic trails, cycling along winding paths, or simply basking in the beauty of nature, she found peace and fulfillment in the natural world around her. Shannon had a green thumb and found solace in tending to her garden where she nurtured hearty
vegetables and flourishing plants. She enjoyed cooking exquisite meals for her family and never missed an opportunity to go fishing. She also had a deep fascination with space, often spending the evenings gazing at the stars and eagerly awaiting rocket launches from Cape Canaveral.
She is survived by her loving partner, Patrick Byrne; her mother, Margo Cox; siblings Kristen (Kenneth) Idle, Meghan (Jonathan) Borozzi, and
Geoffrey (Leah) Cox; 4 nephews; Andrew Idle, Christopher Idle, Christian Borozzi, and Kameron Cox; 1 niece, Juliet Borozzi; her aunts, Barbara Merzig and Carol (Carl) Wirwa; and several cousins: Karenna (David) Rowenhorst; Matthew Merzig, John (Marianne) Merzig, Nick (Mary Helen) Wirwa, and Drew (Jamie) Wirwa. Shannon was predeceased by her father Dr. Donald Roger Cox.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 3 to 4 p.m. at Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home, 950 SE Monterey Road,
Stuart, Florida 34994. All who knew Shannon are encouraged to attend the celebration of life. A private graveside service will be held at Fernhill
