S hirley Anne Londeen received her angel wings on May 19, 2022. A true blessing and an inspiration, she will be fondly remembered for her compassionate heart, joyful laughter, and exuberance for life.
Shirley was born on July 12, 1940 in Atlanta, GA. She grew up in West Palm Beach, FL, where she married John P. Wilcher, Jr. and raised three children. Later divorced, Shirley married Robert Londeen and they lived in Duncan, South Carolina for 20 years before returning to Florida.
Shirley was beautiful inside and out, and had love in her heart for everyone. She was a faithful Christian who devoted her life to caring for others. She was selfless, kind, and generous, and always put the needs of others before her own. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and was fiercely protective and supportive of her family. Shirley loved nature and spending time at the ocean and in the mountains. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and gardening in her younger years. Her passions included spending time with family, cooking, entertaining and sharing her love of food, singing, dancing, and laughing. In recent years, Shirley found pleasure in relaxing on the patio and listening to the songbirds, keeping in touch with family and friends by phone, and taking care of her grand-dogs, Tank and Rambo.
Shirley was the loving mother of daughter Kathryn Barbera, son John Wilcher and daughter-in-law Frances, and son Timothy Wilcher and daughter-in-law Sheri. She was the proud grandmother of Amanda (Jack) Babcock, Sara (Tyler) Allen, Emilie (Colin) Hayhurst, and Matthew Barbera, and adoring great-grandmother of Noah, Jaisyk, Orion, Kwinsley, Adalyn, Phenyx, and Lainey. Close to Shirley's heart were sisters-in-law Carole Orr and Sandra Kaiser, nieces Tammy Kaiser and Robin Kaiser, cousin Crystal Marinuzzi, dear family members including a great-niece, great-nephews, cousins, step grandchildren, a step great-grandchild, treasured friends, and many loved ones who called her Mom or Grandma.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Louis and Nellie Grace Akin, her husband of 38 years, Robert Londeen, her beloved brother, Michael Akin, and her dear aunt, Joan Beeler.
Please join us in celebrating Shirley's life on Saturday, June 18 th , at 10:30 a.m. at Stuart Congregational Church, 3110 SE Aster Lane, Stuart, FL, 34994. In lieu of flowers or donations, please honor Shirley by carrying out a random act of kindness.
