Steve Hummel, 79, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at his home.

Born in Albany, New York, he had been a Florida resident for 19 years coming from Meriden, Connecticut.

Prior to retirement, he was an Accountant for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Connecticut.

Steve attended Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Port Saint Lucie.

He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 37 years, Darlene Hummel of Port Saint Lucie; his 6 children, Sharon (and Jeff) Vomero of West Palm Beach, Florida, Brian Catalina of Bristol, Connecticut, Shelli (and Michael) Appelbaum of Boynton Beach, Florida, Tracy Hummel, Kim (and Bob) Leone, and Cindy (and  Amaury) Fernandez, all of Connecticut; 9 grandchildren, Jackie, Darci, Nikki, Elle, Robbie, Jordan, Devin, Sophia, and Nico; 6 great-grandchildren, and many wonderful friends.

"Poppi", a gentle quiet man who was always "peachy keen" with a smile and silly anecdote to share, is lovingly remembered as an avid animal lover who enjoyed Christmas, classic cars, motorcycles. classic rock and 50's music, everything Elvis, and James Dean, who he resembled in his well worn leather jacket. Louie Lou, Poppi. We love you.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Saint Lucie Catholic Church, 425 Irving Street,  (corner of Irving Street and Prima Vista Blvd) Port Saint Lucie.
