Sue Ann (Rediger) McElwain was born on February 25 in Wauseon, Ohio, to Richard and Virginia Rediger. She committed her life to Christ as a sixteen-year-old and served Him faithfully.

After graduating from Hobe Sound Bible College, Sue taught in Stanton, Alabama; Friendsville, Tennessee; and Kirksville, Missouri. While teaching in Kirksville, Sue earned a Master's degree from Truman State University.

Sue and Randall were married in Kirksville in 1985. Three years later, they moved to Hobe Sound, Florida, where Sue taught at Hobe Sound Christian Academy from 1988-2014. She also taught English in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, for two years.  Sue loved to teach. More than one student has said in surprise, "Mrs. McElwain actually liked me!"  Ironically, she seemed to like the trouble-makers best!

Although Sue loved teaching, her first love was family. Nothing was more important to her than providing a happy home for her husband and children. Later, she welcomed their spouses (Benjamin Stetler and Mallory Sekel McElwain) into the family with a whole-hearted love. She proudly referred to them as "our four"; and she was happiest when everyone was home. The louder the racket, the bigger her smile.

Sue passed away on January 8, 2022, after a two-year battle with cancer.  She is survived by her husband Randall, two adult children Austin (and Mallory) McElwain and Stacey (and Benjamin) Stetler, and a brother Jim (and Martha) Rediger of Montpelier, Ohio.  After a memorial service at Hobe Sound Bible Church, her body will await the Lord's return at Cedar Creek Cemetery, overlooking the Smokies in Greeneville, Tennessee.
