Thomas Guido Ottavi's Obituary
Thomas Ottavi, 68, of Stuart, FL passed away peacefully June 3, at his home.
Born in Boston on January 23, 1948 to Guido and Carmen (Hickey) Ottavi, he grew up in Stoneham, MA attending St. Patrick Elementary School and the Stoneham Public Schools.
He graduated from Salem State College (MA), and subsequently taught Science at the Joyce Junior High School in Woburn, MA.
Having maintained an interest in Communications, he returned to school to study Radio and Television Production at Grahm Junior College (Boston) earning an Associates Degree.
His radio/television career kept him in the Boston area for several years before moving to DuBois, PA and then to Milwaukee, WI.
He worked in the local Milwaukee media market, began teaching Radio and Television Production at Milwaukee Area Technical College and continued there until he retired.
His retirement brought him to Stuart where he settled. Tom's interest in the media continued as he worked part-time at WSTU Radio in Stuart and taught at Indian River College in Fort Pierce, FL. He was member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Stuart.
Tom enjoyed cycling in his free time, and was well known to the staff and "regulars" at the Flamingo/Flashback Diner. He continued to travel regularly returning to Milwaukee and Stoneham to visit friends and family.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Guido and Carmen.
Tom is survived by siblings Dominic Ottavi of Peabody, MA, Ellen Swanson and her husband Tom of Stoneham, MA, and Margaret Ottavi of Lynnfield, MA.
Also his nieces: Maryellen Ryan, Emily Swanson, Kathryn Swanson, Meghan Deighan, Mary Kathryn Deighan, and grandniece, Madalyn Ryan.
Tom was a devout communicant of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Stuart, FL where a Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, June 15 at 11:00. He will be interred at Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham, MA.
