IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Todd
Mangan
October 1, 1964 – February 28, 2024
Joseph "Todd" Mangan of Stuart FL passed away suddenly at home on February 28, 2024, at the age of 59.
Todd was born in Peoria, Illinois, on October 1 st , 1964. He lived in Martin County for 39 years and retired in 2022 after 36 years working in press operations with Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers.
Todd was a life-long fishing, boating, and hunting enthusiast and loved the outdoors. He was a member of the National Fishing Lure Collectors Club (NFLCC) and the Florida Antique Tackle Collectors (FATC) and spent hours collecting and trading antique fishing tackle. This hobby was inspired by the gift of his Grandpa Joe's tackle box. Todd spent many weekends attending fishing lure & tackle club shows and vintage car shows. He loved displaying his teal blue 1968 Chevy Camaro; there was not a show where he didn't turn a stranger into a friend. Fishing and spending time in the Keys and on the Treasure Coast with his wife Kathy and friends were especially treasured.
Todd is survived by his cherished wife, Kathy (Skrzypczak) of 5 years. They were married in Islamorada on October 3 rd , 2018. He is also survived by his sister Holly (Ed) Chase of Tequesta FL, father and mother-in-law Bob and Diane Filcek of Kawkawlin, MI and close cousins Kim Beal and Tonya Cassidy of Illinois.
Todd is predeceased by his parents, Rosemary (Harlan) Whelchel and Robert Welchel (stepfather) of Hanna City, IL.
Todd will be remembered as a kind and caring person – he looked forward to the social gatherings with friends always ready to share his smiling toothy grin.
A celebration of life will occur on Saturday, March 23 rd , 2024, from 1 – 4 pm at Pirate's Cove Resort and Marina in Port Salerno, FL. (don't be surprised if a Todd favorite, a pork tenderloin shows up!)
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida or the Treasure Coast Wildlife Center.
