Virginia M. Cashmon's Obituary
Virginia M. Cashmon, 82, of both Portsmouth, Rhode Island, and Jensen Beach Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at the Treasure Coast Hospice House in Stuart, Florida.
Originally from Tiverton, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Sidney J. Raposa and Mary (Rocha) Raposa, and sister of the late James Raposa.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 33 years, Robert A. Cashmon; her brother Sidney J. Raposa Jr., of Portsmouth Rhode Island; her son, Edward J. Almedia, of Tiverton, Rhode Island, and Stuart, Florida; her daughters, Virginia Thomas of Hood River, Oregon, and Donna Lafleur, and her husband, Joseph, of Portsmouth Rhode Island; her grandchildren, Jessica Bowley, and Justin Lafleur; her great grandson, Ethan Bowley,; stepsons, Robert Cashmon , and his wife, Debra, and their daughter, Sarah, Kevin Cashmon, and his wife, Blair, and their daughter, Megan, Steven Cashmon, and his wife, Carol Lee, and the late John Cashmon. She also leaves behind cousins, as well as many dear friends, and grandpets, Addy and Mumbo.
Virginia was a professional seamstress and a member of the United Garment Workers Union. She was a very creative and talented person. Among her many talents she painted watercolors, made stained glass and many other crafts. She was an amazing cook and home maker. She and her husband volunteered at the Recreation Center where they live. She lived near the water and loved to swim and at age 80, she learned how to kayak. She and her husband also loved to travel.
Virginia was a very upbeat person with a great sense of humor and zest for life. "Ginny" as she was known, will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial Services will be determined by the family at their earliest convenience. In lieu of flowers Contributions as a Memorial may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation at www.themmrf.org or to the Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, Florida 34997 (www.TCHospice.org).
