Virginia Fletcher Cremens, 93, of Palm City, Florida, loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on February 4, 2015, with her two granddaughters present.
Virginia was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Gustavus Bergner Fletcher and Fannie Abercrombie Fletcher on January 6, 1922.
Virginia was a registered nurse before marrying John F. Cremens II, a successful dentist and philanthropist. She was a long time resident of Tenafly, New Jersey. She was a member of the Knickerbocker Country Club where she loved to play golf. She was a world traveler with her husband, and always enjoyed hunting and fishing in faraway places. Her adventures included an African safari with her son Jack and several fishing trips to Canada with her family (all in her 80's) Virginia was also a talented poet, artist, and sculptor. Her bust of Vince Lombardi was donated to Fordham University in New York.
After the death of her husband, Virginia moved to Palm City, Florida, and joined Monarch Country Club where she made many dear friends. She enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid golfer into her 80s. Virginia was a member of the Women's Club, a volunteer for 4C's, a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of Monarch's Bridge Club. She was also a member of the Holy Redeemer Church in Palm City. Virginia had an adventurous and fearless spirit, was loved and admired by her family and friends, and will always be remembered as and a loving, generous, faithful, and wise woman.
She is survived by her son John (Jack) F. Cremens III and his wife, Pat; her two granddaughters Kelly Menger, and her husband Eric, and Nicole Cremens; and her cat that she loved dearly, Squirt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Barbara; her husband, John F. Cremens II; her daughter, Virginia (Colton); and her son, Edward.
Virginia's granddaughters, Kelly and Nicky, want to personally thank all the staff members at Treasure Coast Hospice (1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, Florida 34997; www.tchospice.org). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Contributions as a Memorial be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, in honor of Virginia.
No Memorial Service will be held. A Celebration of Life gathering will be announced at a later date.
