Virginia passed away peacefully at her home in Jensen Beach, Florida, on Monday, May 23, 2016.

Born Virginia Ray Peoples on April 30 1925 in Greensboro, North Carolina to Goldie and Moses Peoples. She was preceded in death by her only sibling Doris Harrison.

Virginia graduated from Greensboro High School in 1943. She was married to Charlie Wood, also of Greensboro In 1946, after his return from WWII. They enjoyed forty-seven years of marriage and adventure until Charlie's death in 1993.

Virginia was a wonderful Mother and an accomplished artist. She had a lifelong love of Nature, the ocean, birds and wildlife which she passed on to her children .. what a gift!

As a devout Catholic she was a popular volunteer with the Church.

In 1995 Virginia reconnected with a childhood friend from Greensboro, Mack Arnold. They were married and enjoyed fifteen years together living at Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. She joined Mack in his volunteer efforts with the Red Cross. They shared a love of the outdoors and each other. Hers was a life well lived.

Survivors include her son, Chris Wood and his wife, June of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina June; her
daughter, Patty Wood Ligare and her husband Charlie of Jensen Beach Florida; and her grand
son, Chris R Wood of Oklahoma.

Virginia embraced Mack's saying "when I am gone, cry a little and laugh a lot" We will do
both. Godspeed Mom. You will be sorely missed and fondly remembered for the rest of our
lives. We will miss your warmth and cheer. A true Southern Lady to the end!

In remembrance of Her, please perform an act of kindness toward a Senior. Even at 91
she loved to do what she could to brighten the days of her fellow Senior Citizens. She would
be-happy to have those who loved her do the same.

A private Mass will be held at Saint Justin the Martyr in Key Largo, Florida, where her remains will rest beside those of her late husband.
