W. Jack McAllister, 89, of Hobe Sound, Florida, died Monday, November 3, 2014, at the Treasure Coast Hospice House in Stuart, Florida after a long illness.
Born in Pleasantville, New Jersey, he had been a resident of Hobe Sound for sixteen years, coming from Cherry Hill, and Avalon, New Jersey.
Jack proudly served in the United States Navy for three years, and was stationed on the USS Quincy, a heavy cruiser. He was onboard when that cruiser transported President Roosevelt to the Yalta conference with Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin.
He was a Life Member of the Hall-Bryan VFW Post #10132 in Hobe Sound.
Prior to his retirement, Jack worked for the Evening Bulletin, one of Philadelphia's largest newspapers at the time. He then joined the Ad Agency of Merwin Associates.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Evelyn Bryson McAllister, of Hobe Sound; his son, Wayne, of Haddonfield, New Jersey; and one brother, Donald, of Riverside, California.
Services and Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family at the Mausoleum of Locustwood Memorial Park in Cherry Hill.
