Walter C. Mack, 87, of South Hutchinson Island, Florida, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at the Treasure Coast Hospice House in Stuart, Florida.
Born in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, he had been a resident of South Hutchinson Island for the last eleven years.
A Veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a member of the United States Air Force serving from 1950 to 1954.
Prior to his retirement, he was the co-owner of the Pennsylvania Office Furniture Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He was an avid boater and fisherman for thirty years, and a golfer for twenty. He said "his best achievement was when he shot his age at 78".
Survivors include his son, Charles "Chuck Mack and his wife, Kim of Palm City, Florida; his daughter, Karin Phillips of North East, Maryland; two sisters, Marie Tegan of West Lawn, Pennsylvania, and Barbara Gorman of Cokesbury Village, Delaware; son-in-law, Benjamin Ripa; and four grandchildren, Ryan and Chris Ripa, and Alexis and Austin Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty-one years, Gerrie A. Mack who passed away in July 2012; his daughter, Kathleen Ripa in November 2005; his mother, Florence Mack in 1986; his father, Walter C. Mack in 1960; and his sister Florence "Floss" Russell in 2002.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Monday, August 8, 2016, at 11:00 o'clock in the morning at Saint Jude Roman Catholic Church, 928 Turkey Point Road, North East, Maryland 21901, where friends may call after 10:15 am.
