Born in Front Royal, Virginia, a proud member of the Boy Scouts and a WW2 Fighter Pilot, Mac was a loving husband and father.

Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, at seventeen, he boarded a train to Canada, joining the Royal Canadian Air Force, receiving his wings flying Hurricanes and Spitfires. Mac transferred to the U.S. Army Air Force flying P-47 Thunderbolts over the skies of Europe, one of the youngest pilots in his squadron.

A graduate of George Washington University and Yale Institute for Far Eastern Languages, Mac held positions with the Central Intelligence Agency and as the United Nations ICAO Organization Officer. He continued his aviation career in Taipei, Taiwan as personnel director for Civil Air Transport, founded by Flying Tiger Claire Chennault.  He later managed operations for Air America in Indochina, relocated his family to Europe as a Cameron Iron Works Executive in London, England, then returning to Asia to run a helicopter service in Laos.

An avid sailor, he built a Fireball sailboat, serving as Commodore of the Royal Varuna Yacht Club in Pattaya, Thailand.  Racing competitively in Asia, Europe and North America, he won several Ocean Racing Championships.

Mac settled in Utah orchestrating real estate development and managed a heavy equipment family business in NJ until 1990.  He enjoyed a long and healthy retirement pursuing passions of golf, sailing and painting. He wrote "The Ragpickers" a published fable about Basque society in Spain.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor of 62 years.  A son, David and Daughters Cara and Mira McDonald.  A son-in-law Robert McDonald and two grandsons.  A private family gathering is planned.
