Obituary

William "Billy" Capua, 68, of Hobe Sound, Florida, died peacefully surrounded by his family under the care of the Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, Florida, on Saturday, December 13, 2014.

Born in Mineola, New York, he had been a resident of Elmont, New York for 59 years until moving to Hobe Sound in 2005.

Bill honorably served his country in the United States Army.

Prior to his retirement, he was a highly respected and sought after Operating Engineer in the state of New York construction industry, having played instrumental roles in the rehabilitation of Belmont Park, the Long Island National Cemetery and countless other important projects. Also he was a master automotive mechanic, who owned and operated his own towing business, and never said "No" to anyone who needed a tow or a repair, endlessly coming to the rescue of family and friends.

He attended Saint Christopher Catholic Church in Hobe Sound.

Survivors include one son, William N. Capua, Jr., and his wife, Jill, of Hobe Sound; one daughter, Lori M. Stokes, and her husband, Mark, also of Hobe Sound; his mother, Yolanda Capua, of Garden City, New York; four sisters, Elaine Tiso, and her husband, Buster, of Elmont, New York, Mary Senker, and her husband, Dick, of Holland, Pennsylvania, Linda Esna, and her husband, Phil, of Drum, Pennsylvania, and Susan Allen, and her husband, Barry, of Garden City, New York; five grandchildren, Chloe and Sydney Stokes, and William, Alex, and Lilliana Capua, all of Hobe Sound; and nine nieces and nephews.

Billy was preceded in death by his father, William Capua, Sr.

A Memorial Mass to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 12:30 pm at Saint Christopher Catholic Church, 12001 SE Federal Highway, Hobe Sound, Florida 33455. (772-546-5150)
