William (Bill) Deiters (11/18/32), was the oldest of 4 children born to William and Rose (Hilmes) Deiters of Fayetville, Ill. Their Mother (Rose) passed away in November 1941. The children were orphaned in November 1945 upon the death of their father.

Bill completed 10 years (1952-1962) in the US Navy with duties at the Millington TN Naval Air Station, USS New Jersey BB62, and Guided Missile Service Unit in Yorktown VA as a Guided Missile Technician.

In 1962 Bill began a career with FAA, completing 2 plus years as a Radar Technician at the Kansas City Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC). In 1964 he was selected, and transferred, to the new FAA Computer Service Unit at the Indianapolis ARTCC, one of five new units in the United States. This was the beginning of our automated Air Traffic Control System used today. Bill received extensive training on Univac File II, Buroughs, Raytheon, and IBM computer systems in addition to many electronic engineering courses at the FAA Academy located in Oklahoma City. Bill also completed many Supervisory and Management training classes at Cameron College in Lawton, Oklahoma. Bill retired in Indianapolis in 1983 after 21 years as a Computer Systems Engineer.

Bill met, and married, the love of his life (Nancy) in 1966 when living in the Indianapolis area. Their marriage brought together Bill's son William, and Nancy's 4 children, Cheri, Steve, Karen, and John.

In 1985 Bill was requested to join Jerry Thompson & Associates of Kensington, MD as a consulting Systems Analyst to assist in the design of products, and systems, utilized by Air Traffic Control facilities throughout the world. Bill assisted on those projects at various locations until retiring in 1994.

In 1987 Nancy and Bill decided to move to Florida. They initially lived in Nettles Island, then Stuart, and back again to Nettles Island. Bill was active as a member of the Board of Directors, a member of the Horseshoe Club, a member of the Tennis Club and the founder of the Nettles Island Computer Club.

In 2002 Bill and Nancy finally settled in the Jensen Beach Country Club where Bill started, and was very involved in, the tennis club in operation there today.

Bill leaves his wife Nancy, his sister Rose Hemann of Georgetown IL, his brother Joseph of Beckemeyer IL, his son Bill of Springfield, IL, his step-children: Cheri Unterreiner of Plainfield IN; Karen Cummings of Plainfield IN; and John Cummings of Stuart FL. Six grand-children; Joshua Trowbrdge of Greenwood, IN; Austin Cummings of Orlando, FL; Jessica Vega of Camp Le Jeune, NC; Amanda Cummings of Palm City, FL; Stephanie Deiters of Jacksonville, Arkansas; Blake Deiters of Avon, IN., and 9 great-grand-children located throughout the United States.

A Celebration of His Life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of the Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory, 950 SE Monterey Road, Stuart, where Military Honors and Presentation of the Flag will follow. A Reception for family and friends will be held following Honors on the Funeral Home Veranda.
